LATEST UPDATE ON THE JH DVD
All the audio commentaries have been completed and sound great.
The menu system for the DVD has been completed and the slide shows for the still gallery are nearing their final stages.
Next Wednesday I'll be getting together with our Behind the Scenes documentary maker John Cleary to see what he's put together for the DVD.
Darren Maxwell is currently working on the deleted scenes from the movie, adding a bit of polish to them so they will be suitable for inserting into the final edition of the JH DVD. Cover design for the DVD is coming along nicely and should be ready by the end of next week.

Stay tuned for further updates.

DVD Commentary recording session.

Well, after an exhausting weekend, we now have all the DVD commentaries locked down.
We ran with 4 different recording session, Director, Editor & DOP, P&S Team, & Cast.
As always our Director was full of insight and wonderful advice while the Editor & DOP's comments gave us some great Behind the Scenes information, then the P&S (Props & Shit) guys stepped in. These guys created the sets and props for Jedi Heritage and helped make it the stand out fan film that it is, their comments were nothing short of hilarious and just went to prove you can't keep a good team down.
Then the cast had their go.......well...all I can say is......OMG......you'll have to listen for all the comments, but our own George Ivanoff really let loose....it was great.

Now the long hard work of getting the DVD together is underway and hopefully shouldn't take too long, meanwhile, the online release of Jedi Heritage isn't too far away.
Files should be in the hands of our host by the end of the week, stay tuned for further details.

DVD commentaries will be available for download in MP3 format in the very near future.

It's all very exciting. :)

3rd February 2006
SPECIAL SCREENING OF JEDI HERITAGE.
Tonight we screen the new and improved version of Jedi Heritage for Ramiro Fernandez (Wex) and his family.
Ramiro was overseas when the Premiere of Jedi Heritage took place, so this will be his first time seeing the film.
Then on Sunday we start laying down the audio tracks and working on the "extra" features for the DVD.

31st January 2006
THE TWEAKER STRIKES BACK.
Our ever vigilant Director (Mr Darren Maxwell) has been tweaking the Jedi Heritage Sound files for the last few weeks and now he's finally completed the task.
The completed final, final version of Jedi Heritage is now off to the editors once again for compression and integration of the new "tweaked" sound files.
Next task is to screen the film for the last few cast members that missed the premiere and then get stuck into the DVD.
fun fun fun.

JEDI HERITAGE IN THE NEWS....AGAIN
Jedi Heritage was once again in the news today with a two page spread in The Age.
VERY nice article about the film and fan films in Australia......see the Jedi Heritage "MEDIA" page for a copy of the article.

17th December 2005
JEDI HERITAGE PREMIERES......FINALLY.
Yes folks it's all happened.
Attended by over 100 people the premiere screening of Jedi Heritage went off without a hitch.
Friends, Family, Cast, Crew, and just people off the street all crowded into the Kalidie theatre to watch the first ever screening of Jedi Heritage, and what a treat it was. Supported by great films such as "Wrath of the Mandalorian" "Alone" and "Dual Worlds" with teasers from "Red" and "Cold Patrol" the event was a huge success. They laughed, they cried, but mostly they enjoyed.

16th December 2005
JEDI HERITAGE IN THE NEWS.
The Herald/Sun ran a nice article about Jedi Heritage and fan films in general.
Shame they didn't publicise the right date for the Premiere.
See the Jedi Heritage "MEDIA" page for a copy of the article.

12th December 2005
SOUNDS GOOD.
Well, Doug and Scott have finished their work with the sound for Jedi Heritage and the final completed film is now on it's way to our Editor once again so he can burn it to DVD in preparation for the big Premiere on the 17th.
Great job guys, can't wait for Saturday when we will all get to see the fruits of our labour.

24th October 2005
Things are happening in leaps and bounds now. Not only did we lock off the edit a few days ago, but the music has now arrived from Rich in the US.
It's not very often that a SW fan film gets to have original music created for it so we're extremely privileged to have Rich spend time putting this together for us.
What we have to do now is insert the music into the edit and make sure it matches up in all the right places. Then once the dialogue and sound effects are included, we'll perform the final mix to ensure all the volume levels are balanced out and that we can clearly hear what we are meant to hear.
Not long now kiddies

20th October 2005
Well last night we finally locked off the edit.
Robbie has been busy inserting all the new CG footage into their respective places, and it looks awesome.
Once we get copies of the edit run off, the onus will be on the sound/music boys to finish their work. Robbie has a bit more colour grading to do now that the new shots have gone in and Mr Paul Potiki is creating some new titles for the opening sequence (making the actor names look really nifty).
But in the meantime it's a good time to sit back for a moment and savour the achievement. It's taken us months and months to get to this point and we've really got to hand it to Robbie for being so diligent and enthusiastic in seeing the whole process out - as well as being such a great guy to work with. When people see the film they will never know the amount of time that was spent just getting some shots to join together or will never know just how much refining went into making things look as sharp as they are. But hey, it's the movies and people aren't meant to know this stuff.
Onward and upward.

17th September 2005
Second ADR session is done and the script/storyline for the sequel is completed.
Work continues as a break-neck pace, with all the CG shots completed and the second ADR session out of the way. We just have one more ADR session to go and the soundtrack to be laid down. Rich is hard at work in New York creating the soundtrack and Doug is thrashing the audio together. At this time we also welcome Scott Middlebrook to the team, Scott is working on the Foley effects for Jedi Heritage in an effort to free Doug up so we can complete everything by the end of October. FULL STEAM AHEAD.
Oh yeah....I finished the script for the sequel, now I just need someone that can draw to volunteer. :)

27th August 2005
Final edit is almost complete.
The final edit for JH is almost complete and the colour grading is well underway. ADR sessions have been scheduled for the coming months to get the audio section of Heritage up to speed. We are also very pleased to welcome Rich Johnson of Broken Allegiance fame to the team. Rich will be working on the exclusive soundtrack for Jedi Heritage. AWESOME STUFF.

1st August 2005
While the POST-Production crew is hard at work, I've been working on the sequel to Jedi Heritage.
Jedi Heritage "The Price of Freedom". This project has been kept very quiet for fear that the rest of the crew will go into meltdown if they think I'm going to make a sequel. Truth is, I'm aiming to get this drawn up as a Comic Book and have it on the DVD as an "Extra Feature". TPOF will see the return of Wex, Jules, and Tussew as they attempt to save Wex & Jules parents from the Kessel Spice mines. A bit more action that JH and loads more CG effects if it was ever to become a movie.......best that it stays as a comic I think.

30th March 2005
Jedi Heritage is now deep into the post-production stages, with the final product starting to take shape as principal sound and CGI get underway. Rob has already spent countless hours locked up in the edit suite transforming many reels of video into a cinematic experience. Stay tuned for some behind the scenes shots as we torture our actors by having them repeat their lines constantly in coming ADR sessions.

16th January 2005
"It's a wrap"
With those three words, Director Darren Maxwell brought to a close the principal photography for Jedi Heritage.
After months of work, countless hours of set construction and prop building, numerous production meetings and thousands of miles travelled by the cast and crew, Jedi Heritage is finally "In the Can".
The final filming went without too many hiccups, a few delays with make-up and waiting while the P&S team pulled off another miracle by building an entire set in less than 4 hours, but apart from that it was great. Good humour and practical jokes were the order of the day (someone kill the fart machine...please) with a cast of thousands (well it seemed like thousands) being onset during the day.
All up...an awesome shoot, and a lifechanging experience for most of us.

11th January 2005
Last mad week of construction.
The walls are looking great and the paper Mache idea is working well so far.
At 2.4 meters high (6'8" approx) and 16 meters long (48 feet) it has been a mammoth task to complete. BUT, as always, the P&S team (with some eager helpers) has been up to the task. Thanks to Michael Laizans, Cindy & Rebekah Gill, Laura Brennan & Jessica Hutchinson for their help with the walls.
Everything looks on track for the final weekend of filming this weekend.

4th January 2005
The "Hide-Out" is well underway.
Our P&S team leader (Adam Gill) has come up with a unique solution to the rooms construction. Using steel strips and shade cloth to create the rounded effect, we are now applying paper Mache to the shade cloth to give the walls substance. It's an interesting idea and should make for some nice texture once completed.

27th December 2004
Construction commences on the "Hide-out" set.
The final set for Jedi Heritage is now under construction. The "Hide-Out" is basically a round room with two entry doors. Problem is...where do you find a round room.
Solution...you build one.

8th December 2004
TEASER TRAILER ONLINE. Here it is folks...the official Jedi Heritage TEASER Trailer.
Enjoy.
Thanks to Robbie Hamilton for all his hard work on the trailer....well done Rob.

November 2004 Shoot
LOCATION SHOOT. The all important "Drain sequence" has been filmed and completed.
We saw the latest efforts from the P&S team put through its paces with the "Control room" scene being filmed on location at "Heritage House". The guys from the P&S team did an outstanding job in creating an Imperial control room, complete with desks, flashing lights, and shower fittings. :)
Later we were on location. The first site for the shoot was abandoned when it was decided it was too dangerous to use due to flooding, however a new site was soon found and filming went ahead. Full points to all the cast and crew who worked long and hard for the entire day and completed the scene on time.

20th October 2004
HERITAGE MAKES PAGE 1 NEWS.
As promised, Jedi Heritage appeared on the front page of The Star newspaper today.
The Heritage "Teaser Poster" featuring our own Jessica Hutchinson was shown on the front page with the words "Local Tribute to Star Wars..see page 4" underneath.
On page 4 there was a half page story about the film and the people behind it.
Despite interviewing the entire P&S team as well as our Director and DOP, the reporter only found room for one person's views and thoughts, those of the writer and producer.
Despite this disappointment, the story was well written and really showed the good side of the film and of fandom.

13th October 2004
Editing starts today.
The JH Editor Robbie Hamilton starts the mammoth task of editing Jedi Heritage today.
Rob has almost completed the transfer of the footage from Master Tape to PC and he hopes to have a trailer for Heritage up and running in the next few weeks. :)

11th October 2004
Jedi Heritage in the news.
Those people living in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, watch for your local issue of The Star.
Star reporter Bill Kyriakopoulos spent an evening for some of the Heritage crew today as part of a story he's doing on Jedi Heritage. Bill (a long time Star Wars fan) interviewed Darren Maxwell, Shane Mengaziol, Peter Sims, Adam Gill, Darryl Brown, Robbie Hamilton, and Chris Brennan at Heritage House to get the scoop on just what the team has been up to.
Watch for his story in the next few weeks.

9th October 2004
The P&S team are at it again.
The guys from the P&S crew have now been set the task of creating a "Control Room" for a new sequence for the film. This short scene was devised by JH Director Darren Maxwell as an addition to the preplanned shot run. Are the guys up to the task? Watch and see. :)

October 6th 2004.
Well, the fighter (nicknamed The DRAC) has been and gone.
After nearly 12 weeks of work and countless litres of Liquid Nails, Hot Glue, and Blood, the DRAC was finally ready for its first appearance. Transported to the location in 3 parts and assembled on the spot, it was an awesome sight. It lasted about 4 hours, then it died.
As the DRAC was over 7 metres long, storage for such a huge prop was always going to be a problem, so the only course of action left to us was destruction.....so the DRAC is no more. :(

With another weekend of filming under our belts, we are now closing in on the final few scenes.
We have completed the end of the film and filmed the start...now we just have to fill in the gaps.
With an estimated 4 - 5 days of shooting left, the end is now in sight.
Editing of the footage we've already shot starts next week, and the soundtrack and SPFX will be added soon afterwards.

It's all falling into place, thanks to the HUGE effort put in by the whole team.
The P&S guys have been working their collective tails off and I think they are looking forward to a change of scenery. Let's face it, the inside of the DRAC hanger can get a bit boring after awhile.

ON TO THE DRAINS and HIDEOUT scenes.....fun fun fun.

July 30th 2004.
Work begins this weekend on the largest prop in the movie.
A Star Fighter.
Rather than go fully CG, we've decided to actually build a Star Fighter and then enhance it later with some CG effects. This is a huge task as the fighter will be some 8 metres (24 feet) long and 3 metres (9 feet) wide. The P&S department are ready and willing to tackle this mammoth task, watch the gallery for updates as the fighter takes shape.

July 18th 2004.
The first part of the shoot has now been completed.
All the scenes in Brannett's Office are finished, and the set has now been dismantled.
Thanks to all the cast and crew who have done an incredibly excellent job in keeping us perfectly on schedule.
Next weekend some smaller scenes in the Interrogation Room and Corridors will be shot.

July 3rd 2004.
It's all happening.
1/3 of the way through the filming schedule.
Second unit filming kicked into life with our little droid TRP-14 making his first appearance.
SEVERAL takes later he finally managed to not crash into everything and actually hit his mark.
Well-done to the P&S department for getting TRP-14 to actually work.

June 26th 2004.
An excellent weekend of filming, we're on schedule and on budget.
Cast and crew performing amazingly.
We picked up our first blooper for the BTS doco...well done Jess

May 11th 2004.
It's all happening.
Set construction, Rehearsals, Costumes, Make-up, Lighting checks.....and much more.
The main interior location is almost complete and is looking great.
The challange was laid down by Mr Potiki to the set construction crew and they have met it.
Set looks great, costumes are coming along, and the cast are outstanding in rehearsals.
IT'S ALL HAPPENING.

March 4th 2004.
Jedi Heritage has evolved
Yes we've made the big step from being a Star Wars fan film to being
an original Space Drama set in the Star Wars universe, pretty slick.
JH is constantly growing as the production team expands.
More and more talented people are joining the team on a daily basis.
Currently the musical score for JH is well underway and the costume and make-up and props departments are getting into full swing.

February 29th 2004.
First production meet was a huge success.
Thoughts flowed freely and all the departments now have a clear vision of where they are heading.
However, due to the amount of work still to be completed (and the amount of money needed to do the work)
shooting has been pushed back a few months to give everyone time.
We are now sheduled to begin filming May/June or this year.
FULL STEAM AHEAD for the Heritage cast and crew.

February 23nd 2004.
This weekend is the first MAJOR production meeting for the JH crew.
Costumes, Props, Storyboards, Sound, Music, and design will all be on the agenda for the day.
Our Behind the scenes man will be on location to film some of the mayhem.

February 14th 2004.
A Shopping we will go.
Raided a place called "The Reverse Art Truck" in Ringwood today.
Picked up all sorts of fabrics and odd and ends for props and costumes.

January 28th 2004.
Jedi Heritage Chat Rooms are now open for business
Check the JH message boards for scheduled chat sessions

January 22nd 2004.
The Jedi Heritage message boards are now open for business.
You'll find the link on the main page, drop in and have a chat with the cast and crew of Jedi Heritage.

January 2004.
We have a Jules.
After a long and difficult task, the final decision has been made.
We have cast Jessica Hutchinson in the role of Jules. (see cast page)
Now we just have to find a Wex and get rehearsals underway.

December 2003.
Second Round Auditions Completed.
The second round of auditions is over and we now have two new cast members.
David Dawkins & Phillip McKechnie have joined our team. (see cast page)
Dave is taking on the role of Colonel Brannett and Phil is taking on the task of playing Lt. Looby.
We are still hunting for our Jules and Wex...more auditions to come.

November 2003.
Audition date: November 9th 2003
So far the list of interested talent is awe-inspiring
Now it's just a matter of setting the final cast and getting rehersals underway.

October 2003.
Storyboards are underway, locations are being scouted, and props have started work.

July 2003.
Update.
Concept artwork for Tussew has now been done and placed on the site.
Make-up work for the character will be starting soon.
A full list of all the required roles for JH has now been posted.
Everything is running according to plan. :)

January 2003.
Jedi Heritage is back in production.
After a MAJOR computer upgrade, and some luck in finding some very talented people to help with the production, things are starting to move again.
Hopefully we'll have storyboards finished in the next month and we will make a start on costumes and sets.
Filming will be best done during the heat of summer, so we now have a few months to get everything ironed out and the final shooting dates set.
